Our vision: To stimulate and expand creative thinking and ability. Our mission: To provide a structure in which learners may obtain personal growth through their own creative development.
The SHAWCO Arts’ Project is run in Manenberg for learners ranging from Grade R through to Grade 12. The project is a melting pot in which volunteers and participants from very different backgrounds, cultures and abilities can come together to share ideas and express themselves. We aim to introduce and develop various skills, through the mediums of arts (and crafts), music and drama. Our junior curriculum is both fun and educational, touching but not limited to themes that learners may encounter during school hours. Participants are encouraged to think creatively and to use the skills and methods that we teach them in new and interesting ways. Senior participants, on the other hand are given a more formal education in the arts, introducing the concepts that are taught and expanded upon in high school level art and drama. |
