Masifundisane Print E-mail

Through the help of 24 student volunteers, Masifundisane provides environmental awareness, biology and geography skills for 40 grade 11&12 learners in Khayelitsha. Masifundisane aims at creating environmentally aware students, who are aiming to improve the situation around us; to try better their community and the world as a whole. It further aims to create educated students with the skills to pass matric and the skills to better themselves in the future.

The learners will be educated through core-skills focused on the biology and geography curriculum. Also Masifundisane creates environmental awareness through practical applications of environmental concepts including skills based talks and hands-on projects. A main focus will be to look at addressing current environmental issues in Khayelithsa as well as in society. Participants also go on 3 outings and a camp alongside being involved in SHAWCO Wetland activities, such as litter clean ups.
